These terms apply to every order placed on store.grensland.co.za (the "site"). By placing an order you agree to them. Please read them together with our Returns & Refunds Policy and Privacy Policy.

2. Products
2.1 We sell fresh meat, sold by weight or by the piece, and ready meals.
2.2 Product photos are for illustration. Natural products vary in size, shape, colour and marbling, so what you receive may look slightly different from the photo.
2.3 All products are subject to availability. See section 5 for what happens if we can't supply an item or an order.
2.4 Meal kits contain the raw and dry ingredients for a recipe, packed with a recipe card that lists the ingredients, allergens, use-by dates and storage. One kit serves the number of people shown; for more people you buy more kits. Keep the fresh ingredients refrigerated and use them by the date on the card. Some kits need extra working days to prepare; checkout then shows only the dates we can make.
2.5 Ready-made meals are cooked, vacuum-packed and frozen. Heating instructions, ingredients and allergens are on the product page and the pack.
3. Prices and payment
3.1 All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR). Grensland (Pty) Ltd is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged. If we register for VAT, prices will be shown including VAT.
3.2 Delivery, collection and handling fees are shown at checkout before you pay.
3.3 You can pay online through PayFast, a registered South African payment gateway (card, Instant EFT and other methods). We never see or store your card details.
3.3A You can also pay by EFT (bank transfer) into our Standard Bank or FNB business account. The bank details are shown at checkout, on your order page and in your order email. Use your order reference (GL followed by your order number) so we can match your payment. We start preparing an EFT order once the money is in our account; payments between banks can take 1–2 working days, so if it has not arrived before the order cut-off, we will contact you to move your delivery or collection to a later date. We may cancel an EFT order that is not paid within 2 working days. Gift vouchers can only be paid through PayFast.
3.4 We may change prices at any time, but the price shown when you place your order is the price that applies to that order. If a price on the site is obviously wrong (for example, a typing error), we will contact you before processing the order and you may cancel it for a full refund.
4. Meat sold by weight
4.1 Meat sold per kilogram is priced per kg. You choose the weight (or number of pieces) you want.
4.2 Because meat cannot be cut to the exact gram, you pay for the weight you chose plus a weight allowance of up to 10% (the exact allowance is shown on each product). This makes sure we can fill your order in full.
4.3 After your order is cut and weighed, we calculate the actual price. If the actual weight is less than what you paid for, we give back the difference as either a refund or credit, whichever you chose at checkout. See the Returns & Refunds Policy for how and when.
4.4 You will never be charged more than the amount you paid at checkout, even if the actual weight is slightly higher.
4.5 Items sold by the piece (for example lamb shanks or whole chickens) are priced on a typical piece weight. Actual piece weights vary, and the same give-back applies.
5. Orders and contract
5.1 An order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we confirm your order after payment is received.
5.2 We may decline or cancel an order (with a full refund) if the delivery address is outside our delivery area, payment is not confirmed, or we reasonably suspect fraud.
5.3 Items we can't supply. We work with fresh, natural products and limited stock, so occasionally an item, or a whole order, can't be supplied (for example, a cut is sold out, doesn't meet our quality standard, a supplier can't deliver, or our cost price has risen sharply since you ordered). If this happens, we will let you know as soon as possible by WhatsApp, phone or email.
5.4 If one or more items can't be supplied, we will either:
- offer a substitute, only if you agree to it; or
- refund you for the items we couldn't supply.
The rest of your order goes ahead as normal, and delivery, collection and handling fees still apply.
5.5 If the whole order can't be supplied, we will cancel it and refund the full amount you paid, including delivery, collection and handling fees.
5.6 Refunds for items or orders we couldn't supply are made in the way you chose at checkout for weight differences (a refund to your original payment method, or credit), and are processed within 2 working days. Any Loyalty Program credit you used on those items is returned to your credit balance with its original expiry date.
5.7 This applies whatever the reason we can't supply an item or order, including for orders placed far ahead. Our responsibility is limited to the options above: a substitute you agree to, or a refund of what you paid for what we couldn't supply. Apart from that refund, we have no further obligation to supply the item or order.
6. Delivery and collection
6.1 Delivery: we deliver in Potchefstroom from Monday to Friday, and in Johannesburg and Pretoria on Saturdays. The fee is shown at checkout; delivery is free on orders of R1,500 or more. We confirm the delivery time with you by WhatsApp.
6.2 Collection: you can collect your order from a Dilli smart locker in Potchefstroom (Monday to Friday, 12:00–17:00) or Midstream (Thursdays), or in Melrose on Wednesdays, as shown at checkout. A handling fee applies, except on orders of R2,000 or more.
6.2A Dilli smart lockers: if you have a Dilli DIP, give it at checkout so the locker is booked in your name. If not, we send you a PIN to open the locker as soon as your order is in it. Please collect your order the same day you get your PIN, because the products are perishable.
6.3 Someone must be available to receive a delivery. Fresh products must be refrigerated or frozen as soon as they are received or collected.
6.4 If an order is not collected on the chosen day, or a delivery fails because no one was available, please contact us. Because the products are perishable, we cannot hold them indefinitely, and we may not be able to offer a refund for orders that are not collected or received.
6.5 Risk in the products passes to you when they are delivered to you or collected by you (or someone collecting on your behalf).
Choosing your delivery or collection date
6.6 When you order, you choose the date of your delivery or collection, up to 3 months ahead. The next available date is suggested at checkout.
6.7 Orders for each date close at 12:00 on a working day before that date. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays:
- Potchefstroom delivery and the Potchefstroom Dilli locker: the working day before (Monday's orders close on Friday);
- Johannesburg and Pretoria (Saturday): Thursday;
- Midstream Dilli locker (Thursday): Tuesday;
- Melrose (Wednesday): Monday.
6.8 We don't deliver, or open collection points, on Sundays or public holidays, and we may close on other days (for example over the festive season). Those dates can't be chosen.
6.9 Each date has limited space. When a date is full, it shows as "Fully booked" and you can choose another date.
6.10 The price you pay at checkout is fixed for your order, also for orders with a date far ahead. If we can't supply an item or the order for any reason before your date, section 5 applies.
6.11 If your payment only comes through after the cut-off, or we can't make your chosen date, we will move your order to the next suitable date and let you know. If the new date doesn't suit you, you may cancel for a full refund.
6.12 To change your date, contact us before the cut-off for the date you chose. You can follow your order's progress with the "Track your order" link in our emails or in your account.
7. Food safety and storage
7.1 Keep fresh meat refrigerated at 0–4 °C and use it by the date on the pack, or freeze it.
7.2 Ready meals come with storage and reheating instructions. Follow them, and reheat until piping hot.
7.3 Allergen information is shown on each ready-meal product page. If you have a food allergy, check it before ordering, and contact us if you are unsure.
8. Cancellations
8.1 You may cancel an order for a full refund before it has been cut or prepared. For orders with a later date, that is usually until 1–2 working days before your date (see 6.7). Contact us as soon as possible.
8.2 Once an order has been cut, packed or prepared, it cannot be cancelled, because the products are perishable and made to order.
8.3 The seven-day cooling-off period in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act does not apply to foodstuffs for everyday consumption or goods that deteriorate rapidly (section 42 of that Act).
9. Returns, refunds and quality problems
These are covered in our Returns & Refunds Policy. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
10. Your account
10.1 You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for all activity on your account.
10.2 Please give us accurate contact and delivery details. We are not responsible for failed deliveries caused by incorrect details.
11. Liability
11.1 To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of the site or our products.
11.2 Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on the site when you place your order applies to that order.
13. Legal details and disputes
13.1 These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
13.2 If you have a complaint, contact us first at enquiries@grensland.co.za and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (www.cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission.
13.3 Address for service of legal documents: 10 Kolgans Street, Mooivalleipark, Potchefstroom, 2531, North West
13.4 We are committed to the security of your payment information. Payments are processed by PayFast using industry-standard encryption, and card details never pass through our systems.
14. Loyalty Program
14.1 Customers with a registered account can earn credit through our Loyalty Program, including by referring friends. The full rules are on our Loyalty Program page and form part of these terms.
14.2 Loyalty credit can only be used on products on future orders. It can't be used for delivery, collection or handling fees, can't be exchanged for cash and can't be transferred. Credit expires 12 months after the date of the transaction that earned it.
14.3 We may change or end the Loyalty Program by giving reasonable notice on the site. Credit already earned stays valid until its expiry date.
14.4 Ask Tjop: if we add a product because of an idea sent through "Ask Tjop", the first customer with a registered account who asked for it receives a once-off Loyalty Program credit (the amount shown on that page when the idea was sent). We decide which ideas to add and who asked first. Ideas you send may be shown on our "Most asked for" list without your name.
15. Gift vouchers
15.1 We sell Grensland gift vouchers on the site for any amount from R50 to R10,000. A voucher is valid for 5 years from the day it is bought. The expiry date is on the voucher and in My account.
15.2 A voucher works like money on the site: it pays for products and for delivery, collection or handling fees, and can be used together with Specials, loyalty credit and the Tjop month-plan discount. Discount codes and loyalty credit can't be used to buy gift vouchers.
15.3 Whatever isn't used stays on the voucher until it expires. You can use a voucher on more than one order, and up to 5 vouchers on one order.
15.4 Vouchers can't be exchanged for cash and no change is given in cash. Treat the code like cash: anyone with the code can use it. If a code is lost or stolen, tell us straight away: if it hasn't been used yet, we can cancel it and issue a new voucher for what's left.
15.5 As soon as the order is paid, we email the voucher to the person it's for (or to you, if you bought it for yourself), and it shows in My account → Gift vouchers. If you give a cell number instead of an email address, we give you a WhatsApp message with the code to send yourself; the voucher also shows in their account once they sign up with that number.
15.6 You may cancel a voucher purchase as long as the voucher hasn't been used: we cancel the voucher and refund you. If an order paid with a voucher is cancelled or refunded, the amount goes back onto the voucher, with its original expiry date.
16. Repeat orders (My usuals)
16.1 If you have an account, you can set up a repeat order from a past order, from your cart, or when we suggest one. You choose the products, how often (every 1 to 4 weeks) and the delivery or collection option.
16.2 A repeat order is never charged automatically. Before the cut-off for each date we email you a link that puts the items in your cart at that day's prices. The order is only placed when you check out and pay. If you don't pay before the cut-off, nothing is ordered and the repeat order carries on to the next date.
16.3 Each repeat order is a separate order, and these terms apply to it in full, including prices (section 3), items we can't supply (section 5) and dates and cut-offs (section 6).
16.4 You can skip, pause, change or cancel a repeat order at any time in My account → My usuals. We may stop offering repeat orders, or end a repeat order when a product is no longer available, and will let you know by email.
16.5 Paid repeat orders earn 2% extra Loyalty Program credit on top of the normal credit, as set out on our Loyalty Program page.
17. Recipes and ratings
17.1 Customers with a registered account can send us a recipe through "Share your recipe". By sending one, you confirm that it is your own recipe (not copied from a book, magazine or website) and that any photo you send is yours.
17.2 You give Grensland a free, non-exclusive and permanent right to publish, edit, translate and use your recipe and photo on the site, in Tjop's answers, in emails and in our marketing. You can still use your recipe yourself. If you choose, we show your first name and the first letter of your surname with it.
17.3 We decide which recipes to publish, and we may change, switch off or remove a recipe at any time.
17.4 If we publish your recipe, you receive a once-off Loyalty Program credit of R100. For 12 months after we publish it, you also earn 3% of the value of the recipe's meat lines on other customers' orders, when they put that meat in their cart with Tjop ("Put the meat in my cart") and pay for it. Lines on special, and orders placed by you or from your email address, phone number or delivery address, don't count. This credit is pending, expires and can be reversed as set out in section 14 and on our Loyalty Program page.
17.5 Customers with a registered account can rate recipes from 1 to 5 stars and add a short comment. Stars count straight away; comments show only after we've checked them, with your first name and surname initial. We may remove ratings or comments that are offensive, misleading or not about the recipe.
17.6 When you use "Send this recipe", we email the recipe once to the address you give, and use that address for nothing else.
